Sometimes my gecko scares me. When I go to bed I turn his light 0ff and the last thing I see before I click the button is him, staring at me smiling, like he knows something I don't. Either way I love him. It is totally normal for someone to be afraid of geckos. some people are comfortable with reptiles and some people aren't. thats normal.

My lizard has no tail. That is alright. Most geckos loses its tail when something grabs on to it or when the tail gets stuck on something. When my gecko lost his tail, it was a complete accident. We were downstairs and i brought Avocado with me, because i wanted to show him the living room. My mum and dee had just finished it, even though there was no furniture. I had placed him on the carpet and he jump, he had his tail at this point, and i tried to grab him but i grabbed the closest thing in my reach, which was his tail. It came clean off. I didnt know which one to grab. i grabbed Avocado because he was still trying to escape. His tail was wiggling in the palm off my hand. I ran up to my mom crying with Avocado in one hand and the tail in the other, desperately attempting to put them back together. I told my mom that his tail curled around the heel of my shoe and he jumped the instantly coming off. She knew better.

In moral of this story, tell the truth and when your geckos tail comes off, don't freak out.

Here are some gecko care tips:

• When holding your gecko make sure you have a good grip on it.Not to hard and not to light because, your gecko can and will jump out of your hand onto the nearest surface.
• When buying crickets, or what ever your gecko eats, make sure to think about the gecko. Imagine the cricket being as big as a dog. Get a rough estimate of the length between your geckos eyes. That's how big the crickets should be. (They can be smaller)
  
• Geckos prefer not to be held, but a little bonding time isn't bad.
• Geckos are nocturnal, that means they sleep in the day and are awake during the night so they like quiet morning environments.

I have just started this blog on "How to care for your gecko".
Here i will provide basic information on how to take care of your Crested gecko.
My gecko, who's name is Avocado(Left)(hence the name Avocado Journal) has been in very sticky situations like getting a rare bone disease and me and my mum having to crush,but not kill, the crickets for him or him being attacked by a cat.

Some how he has been able to pull through this misfortune and get better. every day or so i will post new things that i have learned that might be useful to gecko owners every where.
